FLUTE / PICCOLO
Is a beautiful sounding woodwind instrument, which can be played as part of an orchestra, band or even on its own. Unlike the rest of the woodwind family, it produces its sound from the flow of air across the opening.
OBOE / ENGLISH HORN / Oboe d’Amore
Are double reed instruments of the woodwind family that has a clear and penetrating voice; It produce sound by blowing into a reed and vibrate a column of air.
BASSOON
Is a non-transposing instrument known for its distinctive tone colour, wide range, variety of character and agility. Its sound is often compare its warm, dark, reedy to that of a male baritone voice.
CLARINET
Have the largest pitch range of common woodwind family. Its family include the commonly known Bb Clarinet, Eb , A & bass clarinets etc.
SAXOPHONE
Commonly known as the sax family alternates instruments between Eb and Bb. It is usually made of thin brass with a conical tube and flare at the tip to form a bell. It is commonly use in Jazz & pop music.
TRUMPET / CORNET
Is the highest register in the brass family. It has a metallic, brilliant and penetrating tone.
FRENCH HORN
Is a brass instrument with coiled tube, valves and a wide bell, played with the right hand in the bell to soften the tome and increase range available.
TROMBONE
Is a large brass instrument with straight tubing in three section. Like other instruments in the brass family, it sound is produced when the player’s vibrating lips cause air column in the trombone to vibrate.
EUPHONIUM
Is a baritone-voiced brass instrument, A non-transposing instrument known for ts distinctive tone colour , wide range, variety of character and agility. People gets confused by the euphonium and baritone as they look similar on the outside. However their build is quite different on the inside. Euphonium usually has a conical bore and bigger in size. Whereas the baritone usually has cylindrical bore. These difference results in the latter having a brighter sound that the other.
TUBA
Is the biggest and lowest-pitch instrument in the brass family. Providing reinforcement to the bass line to the ensemble Tubas are found in various pitches most commonly in F, Eb, C or Bb.
PERCUSSION
Is a section containing instruments that are sounded by being struck or scrapeby by a beater or by hand. It is commonly classified in 2 categories of pitched (produce musical notes of one or more pitches) and unpitched (produce notes without an identifiable pitch) percussion.
